FOOD OF THE WEEK – CARDAMOM

This week we continue our theme of holiday spices to work into our meals.  Marked by its exotic depth of flavor, cardamom is appreciated around the world.

WHY CARDAMOM?

Herbal and floral. Spicy and sweet. With its complex flavors and full-bodied fragrance, cardamom complements a wide scope of global dishes from Indian curries, meat and rice dishes to Nordic breads and pastries to Middle Eastern drinks.

BANANA CHAI SMOOTHIE

Banana_Smoothie

5 minutes, 1 serving, 262 calories per serving, vegan, gluten-free

Ingredients

  • 1 banana, frozen
  • 1.5 cups coconut milk beverage, unsweetened
  • Vanilla flavored protein powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon clove

Directions

  1. Blend all ingredients together in blender for 15-20 seconds.
  2. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
